“Site owners do not like accepting content for the purpose of promoting another site. While of course, nine times out of ten, the point of a guest post is to build a link back to a target website, the trick is not to come across as promotional.”

The real purpose here is to get backlinks for our websites. This generates SEO value for us, so we can appear higher in Google.
Persona Outreach Linkbuilding is a technique we use to get better results. We used to reach out to website and blog owners, asking for a guest post or backlinks. They mostly refused OR asked for a huge amount to be paid for the guest post.
As we do not have high budget as some bigger companies, we have to be creative. And thus we use Persona Outreach Linkbuilding.
What is Persona Outreach Linkbuilding?
- Using real or created persona, when contacting possible link prospects (websites, blogs)
- For example, when contacting mom blogs, you could use a mom persona or a student persona who is interested in writing blogs for their education.
- The focus lies on helping the website or blog owner reach their goals, while also getting a backlink to our website.
- Blog owners love content that their readers (and Google) likes. If we offer them a guest post that has value (and contains our backlink, without being promotional), they will more likely agree.
- Our chances of getting a blog owner to agree, are higher when we use a persona that is close to them and is more appealing than a ‘company‘.
Note: if you believe you yourself are suitable ‘persona’ to contact these website owners, please just be yourself. Naturally, this makes things much easier :-).

Example of outreach
Hey *first name website owner*,
I’m Ellen, I am a student Communication. During my education, I got fascincated by blogging and digital marketing.I really love your blog! I would love to be a blogger one day too.
I noticed your blog doesn’t have any articles on *relevant subject for our website*.
Would it be possible for me to write a guest post? I will take care of the full article and any images you need. Here are some ideas:
– 7 tips to save on baby gear
– How much does baby gear cost?
It would be a great help. I can reference this in the future.
Thank you so much for your time *first name website owner*!
Best Regards,
Ellen Peeters
If we are looking for guest posts/backlinks for a website on diapers, you can write guest posts on tips for baby gear, how to save on baby gear, etc.
Don’t suggest anything to obviously promotional on the subject of our website.
It needs to be something that is really valuable and has 1 paragraph (or even only 1 sentence) about our website.
